Your Testing Journey
Step 1 – Order Your Test
Once your order has been placed, your collection kit and preparation instructions will be provided.
Because all three tests use the same kit type, only one kit is required for one patient.
Step 2 – Prepare for Testing
Please carefully follow the preparation instructions supplied with your kit.
Certain foods, supplements, medications and treatments may influence some results.
Some items may need to be avoided for up to three days before collection.
Do not discontinue prescribed medication or supplements without first consulting your healthcare professional.
Step 3 – Collect Your Urine
The complete package requires 30 mL of urine in total:
-
10 mL for TOXDetect Profile®
-
10 mL for MycoTOX Profile®
-
10 mL for OAT
For the OAT, the recommended sample is 10 mL of first-morning urine collected before food or drink.
Follow the specific collection instructions supplied with your kit.
Step 4 – FREEZE YOUR SAMPLE
IMPORTANT: THE SAMPLE MUST BE FROZEN
After collection, the urine sample must be frozen according to the instructions provided with your kit.
The laboratory must receive the sample frozen.
Please keep the sample frozen until it is prepared for shipping.
Do not send an unfrozen sample.
Step 5 – Return Your Sample
Our fees include postage and packaging to and from the client and laboratory.
A printer is required to print the laboratory return label.
Step 6 – Sample Dispatch
Because the laboratory requires the sample to arrive frozen, Human Defences sends samples to Mosaic Labs on Mondays and Tuesdays.
We can receive samples from clients on other days, but onward dispatch to Mosaic Labs takes place on Monday and Tuesday.
Please plan your collection and shipping accordingly.
Step 7 – Laboratory Analysis
Your sample will be sent to the laboratory for analysis.
The three tests are analysed separately.
Step 8 – Receive Your Results
Your laboratory reports will be sent to you by email.
Because the three tests are processed separately, you may receive the reports at different times.

-
Current symptoms
-
Diet
-
Nutritional status
-
Medication and supplement use
-
Environmental history
-
Occupational exposure
-
Lifestyle
-
Other laboratory investigations
Results outside a laboratory reference range can have a number of possible explanations and should not automatically be interpreted as evidence of disease or toxicity.
Similarly, detection of a biomarker does not necessarily establish the source, timing or clinical significance of an exposure.
What Happens After Testing?
Depending on the findings and your individual circumstances, an appropriately qualified healthcare professional may consider factors such as:
-
Environmental exposure history
-
Damp or mould-affected environments
-
Dietary patterns
-
Nutritional status
-
Supplementation
-
Medication
-
Microbial activity
-
Energy metabolism
-

-
Further investigations
-
Appropriate dietary or lifestyle changes
Where appropriate, your healthcare professional may use the laboratory findings as one part of a broader assessment.
